ABT is proud to be a cooperating company in the fight against COVID19 by providing purification resins to one of the Spanish pioneering public centers in molecular research, the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB).  

During this difficult period, ABT stands firm on the motto“In this fight, together we can make a difference"This is why we have started a joint collaboration with Dr. José Francisco Rodríguez Aguirre, whose research group is purifying virus proteins for the development of ELISA diagnostic tests 

As explained by Dr. Rodríguez Aguirre, group principal investigator, "we are at the bottleneck of our experiments and new tools are needed" ABT has offered chelate resin which has been the key to optimizing the purification of the virus proteins that have become part of some serological diagnostic kits.  

Time and quality are two critical factors for the generation of ELISA diagnostic tests. After completing the purification with ABT’s chelate resin, the researcher remarked: "the purification process has been shortened by 2 days and the protein we obtain is completely native, without previously going through any denaturation cycle – this is very important. 

Thus, today, "ELISAs have been developed at the CNB and test are being sent to different public hospitals for external validation," said José Francisco.
